Waffle Grid: Bad Memory!!! Egads
2008-11-29 at 02:55 pm Matthew YonkovitWell my last wafflegrid benchmarks may have been subject to a bad memory chip. Wednesday I rebooted my server and was greeted with several errors and Ubuntu would not boot. After yanking my hair out, I ran the memory test on the Ubuntu live CD which flagged a faulty memory chip. After a few tries I found the right one, and yanked it out of my server and everything booted normally. I am not sure how much this effected my benchmarks, but to be safe I am rerunning them. I did recieve over 6,000 TPM on a waffle grid test after the bad memory was pulled which is over 1,000 TPM higher then the same test previously, so it may have really skewed things.
Other news I am testing out version 0.2 of Waffle Grid! This has some tweaks to memcached that I mentioned in a previous post. I will just say that the initial results are absolutely huge! Should post something over the next day or two on the new features and performance.
